Apostille is a type of attestation issued by the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India valid to all Hague Convention countries.

Apostille looks like a square Sticker pasted backside over the certificates, containing details of the certificate and applicant name with serial number and government official seals which proves the legality of the certificate in the Hague Convention members countries.

In India, Apostille generally requires students who are studying abroad like studying in Italy or working in Italy.

India has a huge population and 29 states across the country.

Note:

The Ministry Of External Affairs doesn't issue an apostille on the documents directly without prior verification. so we should follow the guidelines issued by MEA. See the below steps accordingly.

Step 1

Authentication of Certificates from State Authentication Departments(MHRD), Home Departments, or GAD.

This Authentication Office takes the original Certificates and after verification from the Issuing Institution puts seal and sign of authenticity, this is a government office under MHRD.

It takes over 1 month to get certificates signed and stamped by HRD. except for a few states like Uttar Pradesh.

2. Offer Letter / Admission Letter

3. Passport Copy

4. Photograph

5. All Semester Marksheet Copy

6. 10th + 12the certificates copy

7. PAN/AADHAAR Copy

Step 2

Once you receive your Authenticated certificates from the respective department, You may apply for Apostille by MEA through any agency or agent. 

the apostille process is easier than the above-mentioned authentication process as it takes only 2 working days.

Note: Direct Approach in MEA is not allowed for Individuals.

Step 3

Italy Language Translation After getting an apostille from MEA all the certificates should be translated into the Italian language by an official translator approved by the Italian Embassy in New Delhi. 

Step 4. DOV  declaration of Value can be applied in the Italian Embassy in New Delhi or Mumbai Consulate after the translation of the Certificates.

One and Same Person Certificate: As per new guidelines by the Italian Embassy the applicant whose degree name does not match with passport is required to submit a One and Same Person Certificate from the University. As per the new rule certificates of one and the same person issued by Tehsildar or from another authority will not be accepted anymore in student visa cases. Applicants are advised to get the certificate of One and the Same person from the University. However, the certificate of one and the same person from Tehsildar will help you to get it from the university.
