Indians are migrated to Botswana for the purpose of Education and Work.

Migration or traveling to a foreign country for the purpose of education or Work requires Apostille/ Attestation.

Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents The need to produce public documents abroad has increased alongside cross-border mobility and interactions at the global level. In many cases, to ensure the authenticity of these public documents, they are subject to the costly and time-consuming process of legalization, often requiring multiple steps and involving multiple authorities. The Apostille Convention replaces the traditional and cumbersome legalization process with a single formality; the issuance of a certificate called an Apostille. An Apostille, issued by the State of origin, authenticates the origin of a public document so that it can be presented abroad in another Contracting Party. This simplified framework facilitates the circulation of public documents internationally for individuals, families, and commercial operators.

How to Obtain Apostille for Botswana from MEA?

Step 1

Authentication* of Certificates from State Authentication Departments (MHRD), Home Departments, SDM (Sub-divisional Magistrate Delhi), or GAD.

This Authentication Office takes the original Certificates and after verification from the Issuing Institution puts seal and sign of authenticity, this is a government office under MHRD.

It takes over 1 month to get certificates signed and stamped from HRD. except for a few states like Uttar Pradesh.

*In the case of the commercial document then it should be attested from the respective Chamber of Commerce.

Step 2

Once you received your Authenticated certificates from the respective department/respective chamber of commerce you may apply for Apostille by MEA through any agency or agent by paying the fees charged.

the apostille process is easy than the above-mentioned authentication process as it takes only 2 working days.

Note: Direct Approach in MEA is not allowed for Individuals.
